New Year's Resolution?

So one of my personal goals this new year of 2013 was to blog at least once a month.  That is a pretty low standard, but I wanted to be realistic.  My hope is that I will write more often than that.  So it is January 31st and here we go...

With the end of January comes increased apprehension/excitement/stress/depression/hope that comes with the impending baseball season.  Unfortunately for me, I have mostly been feeling all of the negative emotions I listed.  Oops.  Although my hope for baseball is slack, my hope in God is strong as ever and I know He will renew my mind and transform my attitude, so that I can be available to Him this baseball season.  I leave for Arizona in two weeks. (Do you hear that God?  You have exactly two weeks to get my butt in gear!)

Sienna is almost 17 months old.  And what a stinker!  She is a fiery, spunky, independent little thing.  She will not be contained.  She says "Dada" and "Mama" and "caca" every time we change her diaper.  Of course one of her first words would be related to poop.  So proud.  She may be a bit behind verbally, but we communicate perfectly.  She knows exactly what she wants and how to tell me usually by flamboyant gestures and effective sound effects.  And likewise, she knows exactly what I am saying to her, even if she does choose to ignore me.  I can't believe that starts so young!

Sienna loves...

  • Music and dancing (mostly clapping her hands every which way and stomping her feet)
  • Climbing (a few days ago she must have been hungry because I turned around and she was seated in her high chair ready to go)
  • Sleeping (she still sleeps 12 hours at night, and takes two naps of about 2 hours daily)
  • Waving (she still waves at adults, children, animals, and inanimate objects)
  • Tampons (she always finds them in my cabinet and walks around holding them all day)
  • Candles (she loves blowing candles out)
  • Outdoors
  • Dogs (nothing revs her up like seeing a dog)
Matt and I took a beautiful vacation to Napa Valley and Yosemite Park for 9 days this month.  Getting away was glorious.  We ate like champs, took a hot air balloon ride, soaked in a mud bath, and even tried cross-country skiing (though we do not recommend it).  Cross-country skiing is pretty much walking uphill in snow with skis on.  Not fun.  But all in all, we had an incredible time.
